Treble success for Preston youngsters

Preston Schools Under-11s are celebrating a triple success on the football pitch.

The youngsters won three trophies as they represented the city in some style.

After finishing joint top of the Lancashire League with Burnley, they played them in a play-off game to decide the title.

Goals from Jake Forshaw, Finley Cross-Adair, Charlie Whitworth and Isaac Mabaya gave Preston a 4-1 win over Burnley in the game played at Brinscall.

The title success came in addition to winning the Lancashire Cup where they beat West Lancashire 3-2 in the final, and triumphing in the Lancashire 7-a-side tournament.

The team play under the management of Paul Whelan (Sherwood Primary), Stuart Booth (Fulwood and Cadley Primary) and Scott Martland (St Andrew’s Primary).

Whelan said: “Many famous players have played for the district team and we hope some of these boys can go on to make a very successful career in football.”
