One eye witness told the Post: “We heard all the noise this morning so we went out and witnessed the huge fire – it was a real mess!”
Smoke could be seen for miles around throughout the morning as crews battled to bring the blaze under control.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used five jets, the stinger and aerial ladder platform to extinguish the blaze.

A spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews remain in attendance and we would advise the public to continue to avoid the area, due to multiple road closures in place.”
At 2pm, the number of appliances was reduced to one fire engine and the aerial ladder platform.
Firefighters remained in attendance damping down the area, with residents still advised to avoid the scene where possible.
LFRS also confirmed the cause of the fire – which ripped through the derelict building, leaving only one wall standing – was under investigation.
