Members of the 8th Penwortham St Teresa's Scout group pushed ahead with a novel idea to raise money for a new hut. Instead of the usual sponsored walk about 100 scouts, cubs, guides and brownies decided to raise money with a fancy dress event around the police headquarters at Hutton, near Preston. They did 25 laps pushing trailers, wheelchairs and shopping trolleys - a total of just over eight miles - and the sponsored event was expected to raise about £450
